Cook smarter, not harder: Unlocking Efficiency in Your Kitchen with These Time-Saving Tools

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, finding ways to save time in the kitchen can be a game-changer.  Whether you’re preparing a quick weeknight dinner or undertaking something a little more aspirational, having the right tools and products at your disposal can save you a ton of time and make a huge impact on the amount of time you spend in the kitchen.  These are some of my favorite time savers.

good knives

A set of good-quality knives is the foundation of any efficient kitchen. Sharp knives make chopping and slicing a breeze, cutting down your prep time significantly. Invest in a reliable set that feels comfortable in your hand and stays sharp for longer, but remember to stick with the basics – you can do almost anything you need to do with a chef’s knife, a serrated knife, and a paring knife.

knife sharpener

Maintaining those sharp knives is equally important. A knife sharpener ensures your blades are always in top-notch condition, so you spend less time struggling with dull knives.

garlic press

If you’re a garlic lover (who isn’t?), a garlic press is a must-have. It minces garlic cloves in seconds, eliminating the tedious task of peeling and chopping them by hand.

avocado tool

If you use avocados frequently, I’d recommend adding an avocado tool to your arsenal.  It simplifies the process of cutting, pitting, and slicing avocados effortlessly, perfect for a quick and healthy snack.

instant meat thermometer

Say goodbye to overcooking or undercooking your meats. An instant meat thermometer ensures your dishes are perfectly cooked every time, saving you from guesswork.

chop & stir

I love this for cooking ground beef.  It helps to break up the meat so much faster than doing it with a wooden spoon or spatula alone.

microplane

This makes grating citrus zest, cheese, or spices super easy.  There are different grit sizes so you can use different Microplanes for various tasks in the kitchen.  I recommend having one in a fine grit to be used for zesting citrus or ginger and one in a coarse grit for grating hard cheeses or nuts.

vegetable chopper

Chopping vegetables can be time-consuming, but a vegetable chopper cuts down on prep time significantly, making it a very useful time-saving tool.

citrus juicer

Often recipes call for fresh citrus juice.  A citrus juicer extracts juice efficiently, ensuring you get every drop of flavor without the hassle.

non-stick baking & roasting

When it comes to non-stick baking and roasting, Silpat and parchment paper are your best friends. They make cleanup a breeze and save you from scrubbing sticky pans.

kitchen scissors

Kitchen Scissors are versatile multitaskers, perfect for snipping, cutting, and opening.  You can use them to do anything from open a package of bacon to cutting chicken to cutting pizza.  They simplify various kitchen chores, save you time, and are a must-have in my book.

During the busy season of life, every second counts and time is often the barrier between being able to cook dinner for your family on a busy weeknight or not.  By adding these smart companions to your toolbox, you’ll simplify meal prep and cleanup, saving you a ton of time in the process.
